Fisheries Sector
In the summer of 2007, the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) launched the South East Fishing Industry Development Plan.

Our Fisheries section is dedicated to the implementation of this plan and will feature information about South East Fisheries, events, information for the industry, research and trade opportunities.

‘My father, Sid, started selling fish off a stall in the Open Market, London Road, Brighton, in 1932. In those days there were hundreds of boats fishing out of Brighton. These fish were all sold to local and London Markets. Brighton Market alone had 10 fish stalls, with scores of local fishmongers and barrow boys. It now has only two stalls and there are just 15 fishing boats surviving that fish out of Brighton Marina.’
